1) When you fill out your “personal profile” fill out as much as possible. This will make you stand out more and look more interesting to other users. If you are not comfortable with certain questions, do not leave them blank, simply put in “ask me” or “I’ll tell you later” or something similar to that.
2) Be sure to include a photo of yourself. A recent photo that is clean and from a pose position from the shoulders up, because dating sites limit the size of photographs using a picture of your whole self will make it hard to see your face.
3) Be sure to browse other profiles working your way from the inside out. What I mean by this, is to start looking for local people in your city, then move outwards as far as you are willing to meet people. Many people are willing to move for love: (maybe even you!) so don’t think that looking in other countries is unethical.
4) Research before you act. Most, if not all dating sites allow you to add otter members to your “favorites”, add about 10-15 people to your favorites before sending them a message. Review all their profiles and narrow your search down to about 5 people that you really feel that meet your criteria. After that then start messaging them or introducing you.
5) If you have a web cam, you have the advantage of meeting someone in a live video chat. This can be really fun, as you can see who you are talking or chatting with and their physical reactions to what you say. If you are really looking forward to getting the best out of online dating then I highly suggest that get one. You can get one for around $25.
6) Be sure that when you introduce yourself to include the following, a general location of where you live, what you do for a living, a few things that you like to do for fun (hobbies), and what you found of interest in their profile.
7) To gain more exposure, don’t be afraid to pay membership fees, you will find that more people will talk to you and it will remove the limitations on what you can fully do on the site.
8) If you feel you are ready to meet someone in person for the first time after meeting them online and are a little scared, I suggest making the first date a group outing with a friend, or let someone know where you’re going. This will not only increase your safety but will also make you fell less nervous.
9) Change your profile and update your photos, this will not only get you noticed more, but will also give people a view on which you truly are.
10) If you’re a shy person, this will ease “breaking the ice” as you are not as nervous when meeting someone in person. Don’t be afraid to meet others, get out there and make some friends that are what this is all about!
